Welcome

Welcome to MIS Music Blog
Welcome to the Morrinsville Intermediate Music class blog page. My name is Mrs Fergusson and at MIS every student has music for ten lessons (each lesson is 50 Minutes) per year.
It is split between the year 7 and 8 students as all classes are composite.
Some of the work we do is learning how to play either a guitar or a keyboard, basic theory, and culminating in an end of term performance of an original song.
I also am in charge of the choir which is comprised of 60 students, a school band with 30 students, and 2 rock bands with 18 students in total, as you can see we are very busy here but love our music!

Room 1 Year 7 Song

This year the Year 7's throughout the school have had the opportunity to learn either a guitar or keyboard for 8 lessons. At the end of this programme they perform a song and include drums, electric guitar & bass, as well as singers.
Here is Room 1 singing I'm a Believer.

MIS Choir & Band

The Waikato River is an original song, composed in 2009 by the year 8 students in Room 1. All students studied the components of a Musical. They then brainstormed their own ideas for a Musical, composed and performed original songs.

Busy Time Making Music

Hi Everyone.
Wow it's been busy in the Music Department recently. A trip to the NZ Symphony Orchestra, the Pulse rock band competition, an Inter Intermediate Music Day and then a School Concert with over 100 performers!
Congratulations to all those who have taken part in our activites and are making the most of their time at the school.

What was your favourite performance?
